BREAUX BRIDGE, LOUISIANA — Upon pleading guilty to having sex with her 15-year-old student, former teacher Kaylyn Huval will only serve five years of supervised probation after her ten year prison sentence was suspended.
27 years old at the time, the teacher claims the sex was consensual. The boy's mother has filed a lawsuit against the school for mental and emotional distress to her son, claiming Ms. Huval used to keep the teen after class was dismissed. The lawsuit claims the two would share in acts of touching, kissing, and hugging. The married mother of two and the young student also engaged in oral sex, and sexual intercourse. [a]
During her five years of probation, Ms. Huval is required to attend counseling, she can't be around any juveniles other than family members and she will have to pay court costs, plus a $2,500 fine. She also has to register as a sex offender, and cannot teach again. During her probation, she also has to stay employed, can't go to bars and can't own a computer, according to the plea agreement.
