Cate Blanchett wants Star Wars role – but only if she films on ‘breathtaking’ Skellig Michael
Cate Blanchett has said she would love a role in Star Wars, but only if she films on Skellig Michael.
The Aussie actress made the comments to The Irish Sun during promotion for her latest film, Knight of Cups.
Speaking about the Kerry island, where scenes were shot for Stars Wars: The Force Awakens, she said, "Isn't it just the most awe-inspiring lace. It's like something out of a fantasy, out of the minds of the greatest artists. Truly Breathaking. Soaring out of the ocean."
She added that sh4e would enjoy a role in the series, "Star Wars, I suspect, is is probably a lot of fun. JJ Abrams is a gifted creator, I'd certainly be game. But it would have to be on Skellig Michael.
"I suspect that may the only time a crew is allowed to be there."
Blanchett (46) previously worked in Ireland on Veronica Guerin, which shot on location in Kildare and Dublin in 2002.
She said her dedication to portraying the late crime journalist left little room for checking out the sights.
"Veronica was incredibly important to me. Her story adnher fight enveloped me and I wanted to make sure I paid her memory the utmost concentration and respect - which didn't leave lots of time for sightseeing."
Blanchett is currently starring in Terrence Malick's Knight of Cups, opposite Christian Bale.
