"Comfortable heels" can seem like a bit of an oxymoron, but as the editors of ELLE.com we've tried on just about all the pumps, platforms, and height-boosters out there—so trust us when we recommend you a comfy pair. Yes, at the end of the day they aren't an amazing pair of sneakers, but they're pretty close. Ahead, eight pairs we swear by.
STUART
I don't know if there's some sort of magic cushion they put in there, but Stuart Weitzman's heels are comfortable enough that you can stand for an hour at a cocktail party without wanting to chop off your feet.—Sally Holmes, ELLE.com Senior News Editor
BRIAN ATWOODCELESTE ELAPHEPUMPS
After a few trials with too-high heels, I've determined that three and a half inches is about as high as I can comfortably go, and an ankle strap is necessary. I prefer single-sole heels to a platform—they just look chicer to me—while an ankle strap helps me feel secure in the shoe, and a low-ish heel keeps me from falling/wincing in pain. To be completely honest, all high heels hurt after awhile—I'm convinced anyone who says they could run all day in five-inch heels is just lying, but I can last a full work day in these.—Leah Chernikoff, ELLE.com Editorial Director

HELLO LOVER
D'ORSAY PUMPS
I bought these bad boys for a black-tie wedding and was assuming they'd downright ravage the balls of my feet. Turns out the heel height is
totally manageable and the construction of the shoe, which is surprisingly flexible, brilliantly distributes my weight to avoid that pitched-
forward feeling.—Justine Harman, ELLE.com Senior Entertainment Editor

MANOLO
BLAHNIK BB
PUMPS
I recently attended The Studio Museum in Harlem Gala
wearing these and was able to make it through a night of dancing, having to sit down
just a few times. I'm not saying I can run miles in them,
but I can definitely hit the quan.—Nikki Ogunnaike, ELLE.com Senior Fashion Editor

LEGWRAP LACE-
UP SANDALS
The slight guilt I felt when buying these–I knew I probably wouldn't wear them enough–was quickly eased when I laced up the bad boys. Initially thinking, 'Where am I going in these lovely things?', I took a few steps and said, 'Where aren't I going?'. There was no "break them in" phase, no pinching or rubbing—it was comfort from day one. Now, I'm always looking for excuses to wear them!–Mariel Tyler, ELLE.com Photo Editor

GIANVITO ROSSI
PUMPS85
For me, a pair of comfortable heels is a fairytale, but Gianvito Rossi's come pretty damn close. I can barely walk a mile in sneakers, much less stilettos, but his single soles are the ones I trust to last the night, or at least until I'm seated. We all slip off our heels under the tablecloth, right?–Justine Carreon, ELLE.com Associate Market Editor
VIA SPIGA
CAROLA PUMP
I buy all my heels from Via Spiga (with the exception of my Chanels from Second Time Around) because I could literally walk from New York's Financial District to Harlem and feel fine. Though that would probably damage the shoe...–Emily Tannenbaum, ELLE.com Social Media Editor
