Imperial stormtroopers may not be as precise with blasters as Obi-Wan Kenobi once said, but they sure can get down.
When one mentions stormtroopers, “great dancers” isn’t the first thing that generally pops into your head. However, Britain’s Got Talent may have just changed all that.
During the Week 5 auditions on the current season, the group Boogie Storm came out dressed completely in stormtrooper costumes. They said nothing, leaving the hosts looking equal parts amused and confused.
Once the music started, though, the results spoke for themselves. The group’s routine included bits of the “Whip/Nae Nae” and “Gangnam Style,” with a bit of Beyoncé thrown in just for good measure.
Watch it and you’re almost guaranteed to be entertained:
After the performance, Simon Cowell said that if the show ever found stormtroopers who could dance, it would take the series to a different league. He thanked them for making his dream come true — and that was after hitting the Golden Buzzer which, as people who know these things tell me, automatically sends Boogie Storm to the next round of Britain’s Got Talent.
So let that be a lesson to all of you stormtroopers out there. You can rebel like Finn did, or you can just keep practicing those sweet, sweet dance moves. One way you might have to deal with Kylo Ren and the other with Cowell, so the choice is yours.
